Brazilian woman who can't find boyfriend marries doll, has wedding, honeymoon and imaginary baby

As unreal as it may seem, a Brazilian woman married a rag doll that her mother made her, according to local radio and TV stations. 

Merivone Rocha Moraes, 37, and her husband had a ceremony, reception, and even a honeymoon in Rio de Janeiro. The images and clips of the events went viral on social media. 

According to Rocha Moraes, a dancer from Rio Paranaiba, she could not find a boyfriend. So she had one made that suited her tastes. 

She asked her mother to make the doll, whom they named Marcelo.

"I wanted a dance partner because I am a forró dancer and I couldn't find anyone to dance with me. I reached my mom and asked her to make a rag doll to dance with me. She did it and a friend of mine suggested me to name it Marcelo, because that's how Merivone and Marcelo are", said the bride, cited by Cronica.

Rocha Moraes said she wanted to marry Marcelo because she needed a house. She believed that marrying the doll would make her go viral and she could get a sponsor. 

“My dream was to dress up as a bride. I came up with the idea of doing the wedding to get the attention of TV shows so they would help me get a house. I want to earn a house and that's why I decided to marry Marcelo," she said.

The wedding was a complete success—and it was sponsored too! The bride had a beautiful wedding gown and Marcelo showed off his tuxedo.

After the honey moon, Marcelo and his bride also had a baby, who looks just like his dad.
