For the first time, Argentina will host the upcoming Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), an annual conservative forum dating back to 1974, that is usually held in the United States.

“Javier Milei, we are heading to Argentina. Do you think South America is prepared to overthrow communism?” Matt Schlapp, the head of the American Conservative Union, wrote on the X social media platform.

The Argentine president did not take long to respond with a message on Instagram that echoed the arrival of the forum to the country, accompanied by his motto ‘Long live fu--ing freedom.’

In a CPAC event that took place last February in the United States, Milei spoke about the dangers of socialism.

Shouting “I am a lion” and “long live freedom,” the Argentine president took the stage to ask people not to support the regulation and not to let themselves be carried away “by the siren song of social justice.”

CPAC annually brings together prominent figures in conservative politics. In its first year, former U.S. President Ronald Reagan(1981-1989), who was then California’s Republican governor, spoke.

In addition to the United States, the forum has incorporated new locations such as Mexico, Brazil or Hungary in recent years.

Until now it had not reached Argentina, the country where Milei assumed power in December 2023.
