Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley who served in former President Donald Trump’s administration from 2017-2019, will speak Monday night at the Republican National Convention, which started earlier in the day in Milwaukee.
The former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations unsuccessfully challenged Trump and others for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination. Haley was the last candidate to withdraw from the race, and previously declined to endorse Trump at the time.
About two months later, Haley said she had decided she was going to vote for her former boss but had a change of heart after Trump reportedly called her and asked the former ambassador to speak at the Republican convention.
Trump’s call came after he survived an assassination attempt during a political rally he was speaking at in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Haley, who previously served as the governor of the South Carolina is scheduled to speak before the convention Tuesday night.
