Red Bull reveals Formula One launch date on cusp of 2024 racing season

Red Bull Racing will reveal their Formula 1 2024 car model on Feb. 15, according to a statement released by the champion racing team.

They will be the third F1 racing team to announce a launch date for this new season along with Mercedes and Alpine.

The F1's current champions will be kicking off their new year just one week before Bahrain's testing sessions begin. The new 2024 F1 racing season will officially begin Feb. 29.

Despite widespread speculation, there is no official word on whether the Bulls are unveiling the real new RB20 speedster or just a new paint scheme, as they have done for the past two campaigns.

In any case, the more pressing question on the minds of racing fans is the how well a new model could perform. Red Bull has a tough mark to beat after an incredibly successful 2023, a year (RB19) marked by Max Verstappen who helped the racing team win an uncontested third championship.

“There is a subtle rule change but I think that nothing stands still. We've seen competitors coming closer at different venues and I'm sure concepts will converge,” Team principal Christian Horner told the media when asked about the new season.

“I don't think we'll ever be able to repeat the season that we've had, but hopefully, we can take the lessons from RB19 and apply them to RB20 and come up with a car that we can defend these titles with.”

Horner said that despite some changes in the F1 rules, he still has faith Red Bull will prevail.

Verstappen isn’t the only celebrated Red Bull driver.

Checo Perez will continue to be Red Bull’s second driver and is also trying to get an extension from the team, or possibly audition for a new team if they do not invite him back.

The announcements from Mercedes and Alpine were made earlier this month, starting the list of teams launching in 2024.

Alpine will launch on Feb. 7, and Mercedes Feb. 14.

To dazzle its worldwide fans, Formula One is currently implementing regulatory changes in hopes of creating a more competitive season.

The moves come after the Milton Keynes squad dominated standings last year.

Spectators will most likely be intrigued to see how teams adjust to the new regs and adjust throughout the course of the year.

Having a clear start is crucial, but arguably even more significant is having a robust evolution process.

This aspect can make or break a season, as history has shown in the past.

Latin American F1 journalist Franco Diaz, who is also the director of Motorsport Planet told ADN America that he does not expect Red Bull’s edge to phase out in 2024 or any time soon.

“The truth is that this season was quite monotonous, but at the same time historic on the part of Verstappen and Red Bull and I do not expect that dominance to disappear in 2024,”

“Maybe they won't win 19 races so convincingly, but they are going to be the team and  driver with more wins and favorites as well.”

The first official Grand Prix of this year is scheduled to take place from Feb. 29 to March 2 in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
