The Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Monday that Juan Guaidó was not invited to the upcoming international conference Venezuelan elections, a series of international discussions being held in Bogotá, April 25.

"Foreign Minister Álvaro Leyva Durán has not invited Mr. Juan Guaidó to this forum, and was not counting on his attendance at the Conference," the Colombian government said in a statement.

Guaidó, who arrived in Colombia on Monday, announced he will request a meeting with the international delegations that will attend the summit, and hopes that a schedule for free and fair elections in Venezuela will be agreed.

However, it is presumed that Guaidó would be looking to leave the country to go into exile in the United States, although it has not yet been confirmed.

The Gustavo Petro administration said Guaidó's presence at the summit was not agreed upon, and that there will only be dialogue between pre-approved  foreign ministries and representatives

The announcement by the government of the leftist Gustavo Petro generated reactions in defense of Guaidó.
