U.S. Border Patrol found two stash houses in Laredo, Texas this week holding more than two dozen undocumented migrants, the Laredo Sector Border Patrol said in a statement

The first stash house was discovered in south Laredo by Border Patrol and Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) agents on Mach 20. When they entered the home, the agents found 11 undocumented migrants inside the residence.

After migrants were taken into custody and processed by authorities, record checks revealed that they had crossed the U.S.-Mexico border from Mexico and Guatemala.

The following day, Border Patrol agents discovered a second stash house in Laredo. Upon entering the home, agents discovered ten people being held inside. The residence was shut down with the help of the Texas DPS and the Laredo Police Department.

The migrants were taken to Laredo South Station for processing. Background checks revealed that the migrants had crossed the border illegally from Mexico, Honduras, Ecuador, and Guatemala.

The discovery of the stash houses comes after the head of a key sector in the U.S.-Mexico said border agents have encountered more than one million migrants since the beginning of Fiscal Year 2023, which began on October 1, 2022. The number of undocumented migrants encountered at the border is on pace to break the records established for the previous entire fiscal year.
