Daniels said he wasn’t interested in serving in Washington at this time in his life

Former Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels said Tuesday he will not run for U.S. Senate. Daniels, 73, explained in a statement that he was not interested in serving as a legislator at this stage of life.
“After what I hope was adequate reflection, I’ve decided not to become a candidate for the U.S. Senate. With full credit and respect for the institution and those serving in it, I conclude that it’s just not the job for me, not the town for me, and not the life I want to live at this point,” Daniels wrote.
The former governor’s announcement ends what month long speculation that was building steam and excitement for Republicans, especially those in the Hoosier state.
Daniels was considering running for the seat that Sen. Mike Braun is giving up to run for governor.
Daniels had served as president of Purdue University for the past 10 years in the wake of his two terms as governor.
