Second batch of Biden's classified documents found at another location

President Joe Biden’s legal team found a second batch of classified documents after several sensitive government records were discovered at his former think tank office in D.C. in the fall. 

It is unclear how many documents were found in the second batch of materials discovered or their contents. It is also unclear where and when the documents were located. 

Biden’s lawyers found the initial classified documents from Biden’s time as vice president in early November, leading them to search for additional classified records. However, the president’s attorneys publicly acknowledged the discovery on Monday. 

The initial batch of documents was discovered when Biden’s attorneys were packing up files at his former private office at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington. The documents were discovered in a locked closet.

 Many of the “top secret” documents included U.S. intelligence materials and briefing memos about Ukraine, Iran, and the United Kingdom, according to a source familiar with the matter.  

Classified records are supposed to be stored in secure locations and are supposed to be handed over to the National Archives when the administration ends, according to the Presidential Records Act. 

Biden said on Tuesday that he did not know that the classified documents were in his private office after he left the vice president. He added that his attorneys “did what they should have done” and immediately contacted the National Archives and Records Administration.
