National Brownie Day: must try brownie recipes
How should you celebrate National Brownie Day? By making brownies, obviously.

This list of brownie recipes promises at least one brownie for everyone’s taste. Do you like them dark and rich? We’ve got you covered. How about fudgy? Well, we have that too. Are you watching your diet ahead of the holiday season? Try some delicious healthy brownies. Feeling a little bit fancy? Try Ghirardelli brownies.
Fudgy Brownies
Ingredients:
- 1 ¼ cups of granulated sugar
- 10 tbsp unsalted butter
- ¾ cup + 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325ºF. Line a baking pan with parchment paper. In a saucepan, add 1 or 2 inches of water and heat until simmering.
Combine butter, sugar, cocoa powder and salt in a separate bowl. Place the bowl over the simmering water (the bowl should not be touching the water). Stir occasionally until the butter has melted and the mixture is warm.
Remove the bowl from the heat and set aside 3-5 minutes. Add the vanilla and stir. Add the eggs, and stir until the batter looks thick. Finally, add the flour and mix vigorously. You may use a mixer for this step.
Spread the batter onto the pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Let it cool before serving.
Healthy Brownies
Ingredients:
- ½ cup fine almond flour
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp coconut flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup all-natural almost butter
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- ¼ cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tbsp melted coconut oil
- Salt to taste
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Spray a pan with coconut oil cooking spray.
Combine the almond flour, coconut flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, and chocolate chips. Whisk ingredients thoroughly.
Add the egg, almond butter, maple syrup, and almond milk and combine. Add melted coconut oil. Combine until the consistency is thick.
Transfer the batter into the pan and top with chocolate chips. Bake for 16 to 18 minutes. Let them cool for at least 5 minutes before serving.
Ghirardelli dark chocolate brownies
Ingredients:
- 1 ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ baking powder
- 1 bag Ghirardelli 100% cacao unsweetened chocolate chips
- 10 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat oven 325ºF. Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt. In separate bowl melt 1¼ cups of chocolate chips and butter in microwave. Add sugar, vanilla, and eggs to the mixture and whisk. Combine the dry ingredients. Add remaining chocolate chips. Spread batter into pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Let brownies cool before eating.
Cookies ‘n’ cream brownies
Ingredients:
- 1 box of brownie mix (and the ingredients listed on the box)
- 16 Oreos
- 4 Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Crème bars.
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F and line a pan with parchment paper. Prepare the brownie according to the instructions on the box. Pour batter into pan and top mixture with a layer of Oreos, make sure the batter almost covers them. Bake mixture for around 35 minutes.
Place the unwrapped Hershey’s bars in a bowl and microwave until melted. Pour melted chocolate over brownie and even out the layer. Refrigerate for 10 minutes.
Reese’s Cup brownies
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- ¾ Dutch processes cocoa
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 15 Reese’s peanut butter cups, snack size
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a baking pan with cooking spray. In a saucepan, melt butter. Mix in the sugar and vanilla extract. Add the eggs, and mix.
In a separate bowl, mix the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to the saucepan and combine until batter is thick. Pour half of the batter into the baking pan. Top with Reese’s cups. Cover the Reese’s with the rest of the batter. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
