Most Americans don’t want Trump or Biden to run in 2024, poll shows 

Most Americans do not want former President Donald Trump or current President Joe Biden to run for president again in 2024, according to the most recent CNBC All-America Economic Survey. 

According to the survey, 61% of respondents believe Trump should not run for president again, compared to the 29% that believe he should. Similarly, 70% of respondents say Biden should not aim for a second term, compared to the 19% that approve it. 

While Trump has announced that he is running for office in the next elections, President Biden has yet to officially do so. For both likely presidential candidates, some of the disapproval comes from within their own parties. 

For Donald Trump, around 37% of Republicans do not want him to run in 2024, in addition to 61% of independents and 88% of Democrats. 

Around 57% of Democrats say Biden should not run for a second term in the next elections, along with 66% of independents and 85% of Republicans. 

Of those who do not approve of Biden running again, 47% think that he should not run because of his age. Biden just turned 80 last month. 

In addition to his age, Biden’s overall approval rate has slipped recently from 41% to 46%, according to the October survey. His disapproval rate also increased from 50% to 54%. The survey found broad negative views about the economy and its outlook. 

However, the poll found that Republicans will likely support Trump and Democrats will likely support Biden if they are their party’s nominees. 

The poll surveyed 801 Americans nationwide from November 26 to November 30. Its margin error is +/- 3.5%.
