Poverty in AOC's district 10% higher than national average but she has 'More Than Enough To Care For Everyone'

Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) reacted to the controversy that broke last week when Florida Gov. Ron Desantis decided to send a bus with 50 migrants to Martha's Vineyard due to the illegal immigrant crisis that disproportionately afflicts cities where public services have collapsed.

The New York Democrat assured them the United States has "more than enough" money to take care of the entire world, although the facts do not seem to agree with her as the income in her district is below the rest of New York falling short at $29,356 per capita, about three-quarters of the amount in New York: $40,898 and even below the rest of the United States.

In fact, poverty in her district is 10% higher than the national average, at 13.8% and property cost is more than double the amount in the United States at $556,900 vs $229,800, according to a report published by CensusReporter.com

In her state, for example, prior to the pandemic, 2.4 million New Yorkers were struggling to make ends meet and after COVID-19 nearly 1.5 million New Yorkers now experience food insecurity, including one in four children, according to data provided by City Harvest.

But for AOC "what a lot of Republican politicians fail to understand is that not everyone shares their zero-sum, scarcity mindset,” she argued in a tweet, adding that many like herself  “understand that immigrants and refugees are a blessing"  to which comedian Tim Young replied:

"So much of a "blessing" that they kicked them off of Martha's Vineyard as quickly as possible..."

Democratic politicians have criticized DeSantis' decision to send Venezuelan immigrants to Martha's Vineyard, forgetting that relocations have been a natural part of the U.S. immigration system. Thousands of Cubans have been relocated by social services upon arrival in the U.S. over decades of steady Cuban migration from 1959 to the present.

In fact, the state of Florida assists with up to $220 in food stamps, $180 in cash, and health insurance for those entering the country under refugee status, and in past months they have been lining up at immigration offices designed to provide assistance.

The Biden administration has been relocating illegal migrants across the country for months and spending millions of dollars funding these relocations in different states.

But according to AOC “believe it or not the United States is the wealthiest nation in the world" and we have more than enough to care for everyone she added, not without slamming billionaires first, and glorifying herself morally at the same time saying:

“Instead of worshipping billionaires, if you try valuing your neighbors enough to fight for them then we can all have a better life, together”.
