President Joe Biden will attend the funeral for Queen Elizabeth II he said Friday.

"Yes. I don’t know what the details are yet, but I’ll be going," the president told reporters, according to The Hill.

The outlet noted the likely date of the funeral is Sept. 19, ten days following her death. Plans for the monarch's passing, dubbed Operational London Bridge, have been in place for decades.

Biden is currently scheduled to be in New York on that day, The Hill reported.

Queen Elizabeth died on Thursday at the age of 96, having reigned 70 years, the longest tenure of any British sovereign. She was immediately succeeded by her son, now King Charles III, who delivered his first address as the UK's monarch on Friday.

Charles paid tribute to Elizabeth as both an international leader and his mother.

"And to my darling Mama, as you begin your last great journey to join my dear late Papa, I want simply to say this: thank you." he said. "Thank you for your love and devotion to our family and to the family of nations you have served so diligently all these years."
