Tesla will recall 817,143 vehicles because the seatbelt reminder chimes might not activate, announced the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Thursday.

Vehicle safety laws require chimes to sound when a vehicle has started and the driver has not bucked up. According to NHTSA, there is an increased risk of injury during a crash when the chime is not correctly working.

The recall affects the 2017-2022 Model 3, the 2020-2022 Model Y, and the 2021-2022 Model S and X.

As of January 31, Tesla said it was unaware of any incidents stemming from the issue.

Tesla will address the issue through an over-the-air software update that does not require owners to physically bring their cars to a service center.

The recall is among the largest in the company’s history. On Tuesday, the NHTSA announced a recall of 54,000 Tesla vehicles with self-driving software that allowed the cars to roll through stop signs instead of coming to a complete stop.
