UEFA plans to create a summer tournament starting in 2024 , which would bring together four of the best teams from each edition, including the winner of the Champions League.

The idea is to create a "tournament of champions" to open each season of European soccer before the Champions League. The format has not yet been defined, but everything seems to point to semifinals and a final, with the winner of the Champions League of the previous season as the leading team, in addition to three other major European guests.

And rumors have it that the venue for this tournament could be the United States!

According to the French newspaper L'Equipe, the competition would be held in the United States. Additionally, it reported that the tournament would be held in the Final Four format with semifinals, a final and a match for third and fourth place.

This would be a different competition from the European Super Cup, in which the winners of the Champions League and the Europa League play against each other. However, UEFA is considering the possibility of the Conference League champion also participating in the Super Cup.

It would be the alternative to the idea of a Champions League Final Four that has never come to fruition, but it would also mean a significant change.

From the beginning of this new tournament, the European Super Cup would not only include the Champions League champion, but only the winner of the Europa League and the Conference champion would play it. Thus, the tournament on U.S. soil would be the one with the highest cache.

The changes come in the wake of the implementation in 2024 of the new format that UEFA has scheduled for the Champions League, with 36 clubs in the fight for the continental title, which will already be in place for that season.
