Tucker Carlson: The Latino shift to the right is real

“The bad news about the Democratic Party, obviously, is that it has become authoritarian. The good news is it remains ridiculous.”

Fox News host Tucker Carlson said in a recent segment that the political shift for Hispanic Americans is real despite recent claims by the mainstream media.

The party loyalties of Latinos have been a hot topic of discussion since the 2020 presidential election, where exit polls revealed former President Donald Trump performed strongly among minority voters – Hispanics, Blacks and even Asians.

Polls began providing evidence of this shift as the economy stumbled and inflation soared under the new Biden administration.

Democrats were alarmed by a December Wall Street Journal poll that found Latinos – a reliably blue voting block – were evenly split on a generic 2022 congressional ballot.

Multiple surveys since have found that the recession uncovered a growing schism between the party’s college-educated whites and working class minorities.

“We’re seeing a political realignment in real time,” political news site Axios claimed in July.

“Democrats are becoming the party of upscale voters concerned more about issues like gun control and abortion rights. Republicans are quietly building a multiracial coalition of working-class voters, with inflation as an accelerant.”

The left has attempted to downplay this trend. CNN senior political analyst Ronald Brownstein examined the evidence in 3,000-word piece for the Atlantic and concluded that a shift was occurring, the extent was still unknown.

Carlson cited other examples of how Democratic strategists had dismissed the trend – sometimes in ways that denigrate Latinos’ intelligence.

Eduardo Gamarra, a political scientist at Florida International University, told NBC News in February that he’s been documenting a “causal link” between misinformation and disinformation and how Spanish speakers have voted in recent elections.

“Of course, it was obvious Putin did it, just like Putin caused inflation and monkeypox and that war in Europe. According to Professor Gamarra, Hispanic voters were just too stupid to realize what was going on. They had no idea they were being fooled. They're just too dumb to Democrats,” explained Carlson.

As evidence, the Fox News personality cited how over half of CNN and MSNBC viewers now believe that “disinformation is compelling Hispanic voters to vote Republican.”

“How to fix this? Obviously, we're going to need a lot more censorship to keep this disinformation away from all those gullible Latinos. Someone get Mark Zuckerberg on the phone immediately. It's hilarious,” Carlson added.

“The bad news about the Democratic Party, obviously, is that it has become authoritarian. The good news is it remains ridiculous.”

He pointed to the hypocrisy of blue city officials who claimed to support illegal immigration but quickly changed their tune once they began arriving on their doorstep on buses from Texas and Arizona. The segment showed a clip of Washington DC Council member Brianne Nadeau saying that the “governors of Texas and Arizona have turned [the capital] into a border town.”

“Brianne Nadeau doesn't want illegal aliens in her neighborhood any more than the overwhelmingly Hispanic voters of Zapata County, Texas, want them in theirs. So, what would that make Brianne Nadeau? Well, a disgusting little hypocrite,” said Carlson.

“You knew that already. A lot of Hispanic voters are learning it now. So, there's that: the basic repulsiveness of Democratic Party leaders – by the way, nearly all of whom are openly hostile to the historic Christianity of Latin America that a lot of immigrants still believe in. But then there's also crime.”

The host argued that Democrat’s disregard for the rule of law and the subsequent surge in crime was driving Latinos to the right.

“People whose families have immigrated from the third world may be more sensitive than most to the importance of the rule of law. The rule of law is the one thing that America has always had that the rest of world has not,” claimed Carlson.

“That's why people come here and most immigrants consider it important still. Liberals do not consider it important. They're working to end it. Equal protection under the law is disappearing.”

Carlson cited how a Dominican New York City bodega owner had been charged with murder after trying to defend himself and his store from a belligerent customer while violent crime raged on the city’s streets.

“Just today local media in New York reported that a 21-year-old tourist was kidnaped and raped on a subway platform by a stranger. Are you shocked by that? You shouldn't be. That's what happens when you stop enforcing the law. That's what happens when you put the interests of criminals above those of citizens. Everyone can see what's happening, no matter what color they are. Democrats should not be surprised when they are punished for this,” he concluded.
