Former President Donald Trump narrowly leads over President Joe Biden by three points in a hypothetical 2024 election, according to a new poll released on Tuesday by Emerson College.

Around 44% of those surveyed supported Trump, compared to the 41% that said they would vote for Biden if there was a rerun of the 2020 election. Another 10% of those surveyed said they would back another presidential candidate and 4% were undecided.

The results of the latest poll are the reverse of those of the poll conducted in November, during which surveyors placed Biden ahead of Trump, with 45% preferring the current president compared to the 41% who would vote for Trump.

Additionally, this week’s poll results found that Trump leads the Republican primary with 55% of support, compared to 20% for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, 6% for Mike Pence, and 3% for Nikki Haley.

The poll also found that 43% of the people surveyed believe that the economy is the most important issue, followed by healthcare at 13%, immigration at 11%, threats to democracy at 10%, and crime at 7%.

Since November, the poll has also shown that Biden’s job approval rating has gone up by five percentage points, with 44% approving of his handling of the job and 48% disapproving.

Trump is the only candidate to officially launch a campaign for the 2024 presidential elections. Biden is reportedly preparing his reelection campaign in the coming weeks, reported The Hill.
