Former President Donald Trump arrived this Wednesday in a garbage truck to a Green Bay, Wisconsin rally, where he appeared wearing a reflective vest in response to criticism from President Biden following the latest events.

“Do you like my garbage truck? It's in honor of Kamala [Harris] and Joe Biden,” he said in Wisconsin from the passenger seat of the vehicle, which had been decorated with his campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”

Trump’s appearance is in response to a controversy that arose this Tuesday after Biden defended Puerto Rico following comments comedian Tony Hinchcliffe during a large Trump rally over the weekend at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Hinchcliffe called the U.S. territory a “floating island of garbage.”

“Let me tell you something … The only trash I see floating around is his followers,” Biden said about Trump in response to Hinchcliffe’s comments.

Both the White House and the president himself later tried to clarify those comments, saying they were directed at the comedian and not Trump supporters, but the president received immediate criticism from the Republican side of aisle.

Trump’s first words at his rally in Green Bay were a direct response to that comment: “250 million people are not trash, but the heart of America” the magnate said from the stage, to which he arrived without his suit jacket, but with a reflective vest, often used by sanitation workers.

Despite Biden's clarification and the fact that Harris has distanced herself from that comment, the New York businessman reiterated that the president “has finally said what he and Kamala really think” about their supporters.

“My response to Joe and Kamala is very simple: You can’t lead America if you don’t love Americans," Trump declared. "And you can’t be president if you hate the American people, and there’s a lot of hatred there,” Trump stressed during his speech.

The former president said that the idea of arriving in a garbage truck and wearing a vest came from a member of his team.

“One of my guys said to me, 'Sir, garbage is the word right now.' Would you like to drive a garbage truck? And they got one. I don't know how the hell they did it so fast,” he said.

The Republican candidate added that he agreed to wear the vest because they told him it made him look thinner: “I may never wear a jacket again,” he mused, stressing that they had “a little fun with a very serious topic.”

“No job is too dirty for real Americans,” Trump insisted in a campaign email.

The U.S. elections will take place on Nov. 5 and, according to the average of surveys carried out by the FiveThirtyEight website, Harris is in the lead with 48% of voting intentions, 1.4 points more than her rival.

The difference in key states that could decide the elections, however, predicts a close result.

Although Harris is ahead in some such as Michigan or Wisconsin, the candidates are tied in Pennsylvania, according to a CNN poll released this Wednesday.
