The Oklahoma County Police on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of three Cubans accused of carrying out a massive Amazon package theft "involving thousands of dollars in products.”

The individuals were identified as César Yasnier Cerqueira Rojas, Maikel Pérez Laurencio, and Dinneris Matos Delgado. They were arrested after law enforcement investigated a report made on December 30 regarding around 600 Amazon packages abandoned near a house, according to a press statement published by the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office.

Police also found a trash bag containing an addressed envelope and a receipt from a local store. With this evidence, investigators were able to obtain a search warrant for the home located at 203 South Birch Street in Luther, Oklahoma.

When investigators entered the home, they “found thousands of undelivered Amazon packages; some still wrapped on pallets in the home. Packages were stored throughout the home in almost every room and filled the storm shelter.”

“Investigators believe Cesar Yasnier Cerqueira Rojas, an illegal immigrant from Cuba, was working as a third party driver for Amazon; delivering packages using a truck owned by 37-year-old Dinneris Matos Delgado, a legal immigrant from Cuba. Investigators believe Rojas may have loaded extra pallets on to the truck and brought them to the South Birch address where they were opened,” said the statement.

Maikel Pérez Laucencio, 38, is also a third-party driver and illegal migrant.

All three individuals face 15 felony counts of possession of stolen property and embezzlement. Delgado also faces one count of possession of methamphetamine. Authorities expect more charges to be filed against them.

“Our investigations team and patrol deputies did an amazing job,” Sheriff Tommie Johnson III said, “It would have been easy to write this off as an illegal dumping case; but our deputies recognized this was much more serious and contacted investigators.”

Oklahoma County Police returned the packages to Amazon.
