A Virginia police officer was uninjured in a terrible accident where a 17-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle and collided with another car already stopped by the officer, according to a video released Tuesday by the Virginia Police Department of Fairfax.

The shocking incident occurred on Fairfax County Parkway at around 11:30 a.m. when the officer pulled over a driver of a gray 2012 BMW 750 Series.

Within minutes, a black 2018 BMW M3, going the wrong way left his lane and turned in the direction of the officer.

The video, which quickly went viral after it was posted, shows the officer running to avoid being hit by the out-of-control car.

The police officer suffered only minor injuries, as did the two drivers and two passengers of the vehicles involved in the accident.

Police Chief Kevin Davis told NBC4 Washington that the 17-year-old was driving over 120mph.

“He was going too fast. It was a rocket and then it became a missile," he added. The teenager was charged with reckless driving.

“The Fairfax County Police Department is relieved that this accident did not result in a tragedy,” the agency noted. “This is an important reminder that life can change in an instant. It is the driver's responsibility to drive safely and arrive safely."
