fire broke out in a home owned by the son of Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren on Tuesday morning, severely damaging the property.

At around 1 a.m. local time, the fire broke out in the Medford, Massachusetts home on Terrace Road bought by Alexander Warren in April 2021 for $1.35 million.

Firefighters who responded to the scene said they were having issues putting out the blaze because they did not have enough water pressure since the home is on top of a hill.

"Up here on the hill, every foot of elevation you draw pressure losses," Medford Fire Chief John Freedman said. "They’re flowing a lot of water and that puts strain on the systems."

The cause of the fire is unknown. However, the home was reportedly undergoing renovations and was vacant at the time of the fire. According to WFXT, the home appears to be a total loss.

"I deeply appreciate the efforts of the firefighters who worked through the night to put out a fire at our son’s house," the Democratic senator said in a statement. "I am grateful that everyone is safe and request privacy for our family."
