"I think, really, I'd focus on getting the job done, getting our country back. Our country has never been in a worse position than it is right now. We're disrespected all over the world," said Trump

Former President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he if could change one thing about his time in the White House, he would pay less attention to the media.

During an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, the former president said that “I found the media is so corrupt that I would really not focus on them almost at all. I'd just focus on getting the job done for the American people."

Although Trump has yet to announce whether he is running for president in 2024, he said that during a second term he “would just focus on getting the job done for the American people,” the Washington Examiner reported.

Trump further told Hannity that there is a lot of work to be done to restore the U.S. economy, secure the southern border and strengthen its global presence. These are the issues the former president said he’d focus on, not the “fake news” media.

"They are unbelievably dishonest, hence the name 'fake news,'" Trump said.

"I think, really, I'd focus on getting the job done, getting our country back. Our country has never been in a worse position than it is right now. We're disrespected all over the world. We no longer have respect. I would really be focused on that, just bring our country back and getting it back to where we had it."

During the 40-minute interview, Trump also spoke about the conflict in Ukraine, Biden’s energy policy and the United States’ 40-year-high inflation.

The 75-year-old Republican statesman also changed course when asked about the war and told Hannity that he now believed Russia’s actions were “horrible.”

Although Hannity did not ask him about his previous views on the conflict, Trump said it is “so sad when you see tens of thousands of people dying,” adding that he believes it is a “genocide,” the Daily Mail reported.

Trump further alleged that former President Barack Obama and President Joe Biden have made strategic mistakes when dealing with Putin and Chinese premier Xi Jinping, accusing them of bringing “two big monsters together.”

He also expressed anger at the lawsuits filed against him.

“I've gone through, in five years, more investigations than Al Capone, Jesse James, and Billy the Kid put together,” he joked with a smile.

“If I fly over a Democrat state in my airplane, I end up before a grand jury. It's a disgrace, and the people of this country aren't going to take it. They have weaponized law enforcement, essentially,” he added.
