Grimes had second secret child with Elon Musk: a daughter named "Y"

Canadian cyberpunk musician Grimes revealed that she had a second child with tech billionaire Elon Musk via surrogate in a new interview with Vanity Fair.

Or rather, the baby girl called “Y” revealed herself.

Interviewer Devin Gordon was speaking to Grimes in her Austin home he heard “what sounds vaguely like a lone cry from an infant upstairs.” The singer had just told Gordon that her son with Musk, X Æ A-XII, or “X” for short, was with her father.

As the crying continued, Gordon asked, “Do you have another baby in your life, Grimes?”

“I’m not at liberty to speak on these things,” she responded before rambling about how kids should stay out of “family stuff.”

After some discussion, Grimes agreed to speak about her previously unknown daughter. Born in December, her full name is Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, which refers to supercomputers, dark matter and the elf Galadriel from Lord of the Rings. Grimes calls her “Y” for short.

A surrogate was used for Y because of complications Grimes had with her first pregnancy due to her small stature.

Grimes, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, went viral in 2010 with her debut album inspired by the Dune sci-fi series. She was known as a fiercely independent musician and feminist before she began dating Tesla and SpaceX CEO Musk in 2018, a decision that upset her radical fans.

“I mean, when people say I’m a class traitor that is not…an inaccurate description,” Grimes admitted. “I was deeply from the far left and I converted to being essentially a capitalist Democrat. A lot of people are understandably upset.”

Musk and Grimes reportedly broke up in September, telling PageSix that they were “semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms.”

When asked about their current status, the singer said, “There’s no real word for it.”

“I would probably refer to him as my boyfriend, but we’re very fluid,” Grimes explained. “We live in separate houses. We’re best friends. We see each other all the time…. We just have our own thing going on, and I don’t expect other people to understand it.”

She told Vanity Fair that they plan to have more children.

Musk was recently spotted with a new girlfriend in Southern California.
