Before murdering more than 18 children in the same classroom at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, the 18-year-old gunman, Salvador Ramos, shot his grandmother.
The teenager has been described as a self-harming loner who was bullied for his clothes. He managed to save nearly $5,000 to buy two AR-15 guns and three hundred rounds of ammunition after turning 18 last week.
It has now been revealed that police knew the shooter because of his violent arguments with his drug-addicted mother.
He no longer lived with her and had gone to live with his grandmother, who is now in the hospital fighting for her life.
On Tuesday, Ramos shot her before going to school after they had an argument at his home.
It is unclear what they were fighting about. The grandmother, believed to be in her 60s, survived the incident. However, she remains in critical condition in the same hospital as many of the injured children.
Just hours before the murders occurred, Ramos had messaged an acquaintance on Instagram telling her he had a "little secret" that he wanted to share after tagging her earlier in a photo of two guns he bought himself on her 18th birthday. His TikTok account also featured a short user bio that read: “Kids Be Scared.”
