A Florida couple found their engagement ring 21 years after they lost it inside their toilet bowl.

Twenty-one years after her ring disappeared and countless theories of what happened to it after, Shaina Day from Lakeland, Florida, found the missing diamond piece wedged inside her toilet.

“She came to me one day and said, ‘I think I lost my ring,’” Nick Day, Shaina’s husband, told the station. “She said, ‘It was on the counter now it’s gone, and I think I may have flushed it down the toilet on accident.’”

Despite searching everywhere, pumping their septic tank’s water through a strainer, the couple was unable to find the precious ring.

"I climbed down into the septic tank so we could pump every bit of it through a strainer to try to find it. No luck," Shaina recalled.

They had almost forgotten about it until Nick’s parents decided to replace the toilet.

"The plumber unhooked it from the ground and then just dumped it over in the tub to get the excess water out, so when he took it out it didn't drip through the house and when he did the ring came out," Nick said.

After finding the ring, Nick’s parents wrapped the ring and presented it to the pair as a Christmas present.

“Both of us knew exactly what it was,” Nick Day told the station.

“It was kind of an ugly cry,” Shaina told WFLA. “I sat there and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is my ring. This is my ring.’ I’m wiping my eyes and mascara is going everywhere.”
