Donald Trump's first NFT trading cards sell out in less than a day

Former President Donald Trump's digital trading cards completely sold out less than 24 hours after they became available, the website selling them said on Friday. 

On Wednesday, the former president posted on the social network Truth Social that he would make a “major announcement” without specifying what it pertained to. 

While many speculated that the announcement would be about his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump revealed a line of digital trading cards.

By Friday morning, the collection of 45,000 of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) of Trump was completely sold out, according to OpenSea Data, which tracks the sales for the digital trading cards. The cards, which were selling for $99 each, were the top trending item selling on the site. 

Unlike other NFT collections, the proceeds from the cards will go entirely to Trump himself through a licensing deal. 

Since the collection was released, the cards more than doubled in price and are trading at about $230 or about 0.19 ETH. However, some of the rarer trading cards, such as one of the president standing in front of the Statue of Liberty holding a torch, are trading for about $24,000.
