A Burger King employee in South Carolina was arrested on Monday after allegedly serving customers French fries from a trash can, authorities said.

On Sunday, July 9, Union Police Department responded to a call reporting a disturbance at a Burger King in Duncan Bypass. When police arrived, they found two women arguing and screaming at each other inside the fast food restaurant. They were making threats and using profanity.

Since the two women refused to calm down, police officers arrested them and charged them with disorderly conduct in order to quell the situation.

Two days later, Burger King headquarters told police officers that one of the women, identified as Burger King assistant manager Jaimie Christine Major, 39, had been serving customers fries that had been previously disposed of in the trash can, reported FOX Carolina.

The assistant manager had grabbed the fries from the garbage and placed them in the fry dump, where freshly cooked fries are placed. The fries were then served to customers by employees.

After launching an investigation into the allegations, police issued a warrant for Major’s arrest. She was detained on July 17 and faced charges the same day.

Major was charged with maliciously tampering with human food. If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison, according to state laws.

She is currently in custody at the Union County Detention Center. Her bond was set by a judge at $20,000. As of Thursday morning, she was no longer in jail, according to People

Major has since been fired from the Burger King.

"These allegations do not align with the brand's commitment to quality food and service and creating an exceptional Guest experience," a Burger King spokesperson told FOX Business

"The Franchisee of this restaurant is cooperating with local authorities and will take appropriate action based on the findings," the spokesperson added.
