Breathtaking: Snowy mountain twister captured on video

The rare sighting of a tornado in the mountains of western Montana has surprised more than one, since it is a rare phenomenon and scientifically should not occur.

The weather phenomenon had started in the town of St. Ignatius and moved up to the Mission Valley Range in just eight minutes.

“I took this video from my living room window on our ranch (…) An active thunderstorm was going through Mission Valley. We were looking for lightning when suddenly I noticed the funnel on the mountain," said the woman who captured the moment according to the Reuters agency.

“I grabbed my phone to record some videos, because we were in awe of what we were seeing. As we watched, snow was being blown into the funnel from the top of the mountain,” she explained.

Tornadoes are produced by the flow of hot and cold air masses, from which clouds of electrical storms are formed, from which a tornado can arise, which is why it is rare for this phenomenon to be recorded in an accumulation of snow and on uneven ground.

"Is it common to see tornadoes in the mountains?" asked a user in the video posted by the TikTok account @isleyreust.

"I didn't get to see it in person but everyone's photos and videos are amazing," another commented.

"I didn't know this was a possible thing until I saw this video and others. It's actually quite scary," said a third.
