AOC ENGAGED: Sorry boys, she's off the market!

Progressive darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) confirmed on Thursday she is now engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Riley Roberts.

The Hill’s Greg Nash photographed AOC wearing an engagement ring earlier that day, prompting speculation Roberts had proposed.

Business Insider reporter Eliza Relman reported that the 32-year-old congresswoman from New York was indeed set to tie to knot with her technology consultant beau.

Relman added that she and Roberts got engaged in her family’s hometown in Puerto Rico. AOC was born in the Bronx borough of New York City.

The couple plan to take “some space to savor this time before diving into planning” the wedding, according to Insider.

Ocasio-Cortez has traditionally kept details about her private life out of the public eye in contrast to her enormous social media presence – 8 million Instagram followers and almost 13 million Twitter followers.

The pair met as undergraduates at Boston University at weekly town hall-style discussion group, according to a biography about AOC’s rise in national politics. The two enjoyed debating each other; one friend described them as “sparring partners.”

The two broke up after they graduated and Roberts returned home to Arizona but tried again after he moved to New York City.

AOC’s Twitter account had been uncharacteristically quiet earlier this month. She posted to Instagram on Thursday she had been sidelined by a “health issue” before news broke of her engagement.
