A Venezuelan man identified as Eddy José Ortega Alvarado is accused of murdering a migrant woman in El Paso, Texas, one day after the Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS) released him into the U.S. along with Honduran Carmen Unilda Navas Zúñiga.
Ortega Alvarado, 34, was arrested this week in El Paso, Texas, accused of murdering Navas Zúñiga.
According to authorities, Navas, 40, was murdered on May 21 by Ortega Alvarado, a day after he was released inside the U.S. under Biden's catch-and-release immigration policy, allegedly to steal her money.
The man and woman were released on May 20 and stayed in a motel room in downtown El Paso, where she was found dead the next day.
Ortega Alvarado went on the run but has now been arrested in the Tarrant County Jail and has been set on $2.5 million bail.
