A fireball was seen in the sky over Texas, causing quite a stir among residents of the state on Tuesday. The phenomenon was reported from Forth Worth to Houston, with many people taking to social media to share their experiences and footage of the event.

Some witnesses initially thought it might have been a shooting star or leftover fireworks, but upon further investigation it was determined to be a meteor.

The American Meteor Society (AMS) received 146 reports about the fireball seen over Texas and Oklahoma around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday. Most of the reports came from central Texas.

Brett Odorizzi captured the meteor on his dash cam while traveling north on Interstate 37. "Caught it on my dash cam while traveling north on Interstate 37. About 20-30 miles from San Antonio in northern Atascosa County. Coincidentally a song called Fire in the Sky was playing. Very fitting," he said.

"My husband was in the garage when he saw it zip by. A few seconds after is passed, our power went off shortly!" wrote Sarah Jane Zamora-Rivera from Gonzales, from Texas.

Others, like Jessica Coleman, were left wondering what they had seen. "I was wondering what that was! I had just about convinced myself it was in my head till I read this. Saw it in Edna!" she commented.

Alisha Kegley Pate, who submitted a report to AMS, captured the meteor going down in flames as it entered Earth's atmosphere while she was filming frogs croaking at her ranch in Frelsburg, Texas. Other clips were sent in from Marble Falls, Grand Prairie, Spring, and Burleson.
