A massive alligator was found strolling through a neighborhood in Texas this week, causing panic among residents.

Texas Parks and Wildlife responded to a report of the animal at around 7:40 a.m. on Monday in Katy, Texas, about 30 miles away from Houston. When they arrived, they found an 11-foot, 400-pound alligator wandering around in the grass near a brick wall.

"This morning around 7.40 a.m. dispatch received calls that an alligator was walking along Peek Road about 50 or 60 yards south of Buffalo Bayou," said Fort Bend County Precinct 1 Constable Chad Norvell. "He was caught by licensed trappers from Texas Parks and Wildlife and is being taken to a sanctuary in El Campo."

“Beautiful morning for a walk!” Norvell tweeted along with a video of the alligator.

After his walk, rescuers found the alligator laying down and were able to easily capture him. The trappers, with the help of Bayou City Gator Savers, restrained the animal by around 11:30 a.m.

The large reptile was tied with ropes, lifted via tow truck, and relocated to Gator County, near Beaumont.

According to Novell, finding such a large alligator in the area is highly unusual.
