Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk said it is time for former President Donald Trump "to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset" after the 45th president insulted him as "another bull**** artist" during his rally over the weekend in Anchorage, Alaska.
Trump told the crowd on Saturday that he previously predicted that Musk would not purchase the social media giant. The Tesla CEO pulled out of the contract on Friday after Twitter failed to disclose the number of bots on the platform.
"He's got himself a mess," said Trump, who founded the Twitter alternative Truth Social. "You know, he said the other day, 'Oh, I've never voted for a Republican.' I said, 'I didn't know that.'"
"He told me he voted for me. So he's another bull**** artist," Trump stated. He then predicted again that Musk would not purchase the company, "although he might later, who the hell knows."
Trump added that Musk has "a pretty rotten contract. I've looked at his contract, not a good contract."
Musk fired back at the former president via Twitter on Monday, saying that it is "[n]ot true" that he told Trump he voted for him.
"I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset," he wrote. "Dems should also call off the attack – don’t make it so that Trump’s only way to survive is to regain the Presidency."
Talk show host Joe Pags asked Musk over what policies he disagreed with Trump.
"Yeah, but too much drama. Do we really want a bull in a china shop situation every single day!? Also, I think the legal maximum age for start of Presidential term should be 69," Musk replied, sticking to what seems to be his theme of using inappropriate numbers.
Musk previously denied having any communication with Trump and several months ago he said, "Even though I think a less divisive candidate would be better in 2024, I still think Trump should be restored to Twitter."
In May, Musk posted on Twitter, "In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party. But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican."
