At least nine teenagers were shot at an after-prom party at a residence in Texas on Sunday, authorities said.

Deputies responded to a shooting right after midnight at a house on County Road 263 near Jasper, Texas on Sunday, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. When the police arrived there found nine teenagers that had been wounded by gunshots.

The victims, ranging in age from 15 to 19, were transported to two nearby hospitals, Jasper Memorial Hospital and Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, reported KBMT-KJAC television news. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

There were at least 250 people at the house party, which was held after the Jasper High School prom on Saturday night. Most of those attending the party were high school students.

"This investigation is ongoing and people of interest are being questioned," the sheriff's office said in a statement Sunday. Police have not yet identified the motive behind the shooting or how many suspects were involved.

"We first want to say our prayers are with those injured early Sunday morning in the shooting that took place north of town," the Jasper School District said in a statement.

"Jasper ISD is working with law enforcement in any way we can to aid in their investigation to bring these perpetrators to justice. There will be a much larger law enforcement presence this week to ensure student safety, as well as counselors on hand for any students who need their assistance," the statement added.

The shooting comes a week after four people were killed and 32 others were injured at a Sweet 16 birthday party in the town of Dadeville, Alabama. Five suspects have been charged with murder in connection to the shooting.
