A 12-year-old girl shot her father and then herself on Tuesday evening as part of an alleged “murder pact” she made with another girl to kill their families and pets, according to Texas authorities.

Officers responded to the incident in Weatherford, Texas, at around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. When they arrived at the scene, they found the girl lying on the street with a gun wound to the head. A gun was found underneath her body, according to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office.

When they checked inside her house, they found the girl’s father, 38, with a gunshot to the abdomen.

Police believe the girl shot her father before fleeing the scene and shooting herself. Both victims were transported to local hospitals by air ambulance.

Investigators later discovered that the 12-year-old had planned to murder her family and pets for several weeks, a plan she had thought of with another girl from Lufkin, Texas. After committing the murders, the two girls planned to meet in Lufkin and run away together to Georgia.

The other girl also planned to murder her father, however, she did not go through with the plan, according to police.

The second girl was identified and charged with criminal conspiracy in the planning of the murder plot.

The police are still investigating the incident and have not revealed the identity of the two juvenile suspects.

“Due to the injuries, the age of the juveniles, and the sensitive case matter, information released regarding this case will be limited,” said Sheriff Authier.
