Madonna was found unresponsive on Saturday and was rushed to a New York City hospital, where she was intubated for a night. The singer, 64, is now alert and recovering.

According to Madonna’s manager, Guy Oseary, the “Material Girl” singer “developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several day stay in the ICU.”

It remains unclear what kind of bacterial infection Madonna developed.

The pop star’ “health is improving” and was removed from the ICU but she is “still under medical care.” However, a “full recovery is expected,” Oseary explained.

The Grammy winner’s oldest daughter, Lordes Leon, 26, stayed by her mother’s side throughout the entire episode.

The medical emergency caused the singer to postpone her anticipated upcoming world tour. The “Celebration” tour is being held in honor of the 40th anniversary of her musical career.

The tour was expected to start on July 15 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, after which she would continue to perform for 83 days. The tour had Madonna performing in Europe by October 14 before returning to North America on December 13, with a final concert on January 30, 2024.

“At this time, we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour,” Oseary wrote. “We will share more details with you as soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.”

Madonna’s last tour took place from September 2019 to March 2020, after the release of her latest album in 2019 “Madame X.”

The singer’s Sticky & Sweet tour, which ran from August 2008 to September 2009, holds the record for the highest-grossing tour by a female artist.
