An unidentified suspect was taken into custody Saturday for allegedly trying to unlawfully enter Taylor Swift’s apartment building, which is located in Tribeca area of New York City.

Tribeca is located in the lower downtown area of Manhattan close to Wall Street and the World Trade Center complex, which boasts Freedom Tower.

New York Police Department officers made the arrest Saturday after they received a phone call about a “disorderly person” on Franklin Street.

“Upon arrival, [police dispatchers] were informed that the individual attempted to open a door to a building at the location,” an NYPD public information officer said in a report published by the New York Post.

Police did not confirm whether or not the unidentified individual actually tried to get into Swift’s residence or if he was merely in the building.

According to the Post, one source – not the police – said they saw the individual trying to enter Swift’s apartment.

“I first saw him around 1 p.m. — he went up to Taylor’s door,” the eyewitnesses told the Post. “I’m not sure if he knocked or rang the doorbell.”

The source also points out that they have witnessed the individual scouring the neighborhood — particularly around where Swift lives — “for a few weeks.”

A second source, who lives nearby, told the Post’s Page Six they saw the same man “lurking here for a month.”

That source said the man was “sleeping on the stoop, chain-smoking constantly, shouting, and generally making everyone uncomfortable,” and that he came with flowers – purportedly for the 34-year-old pop queen – around Christmastime.

Residents reported called the police several times, but the NYPD did not act until the man allegedly unlawfully entered the building.

The Post’s first source said that several NYPD patrol vehicles rolled up to Swift’s building at 1:45 p.m. and that police began interviewing the man, and then detained him.

Onlookers said the man did not resist arrest and described the process as “pretty civil.”

Photos taken of the man depicted him with brown hair, a beard wearing khakis with a tan hoodie under a dark blue jacket with tan gloves. The temperature in New York City on Saturday was about 20 degrees.

So far, the NYPD has said the basis of the arrest was because he had an active warrant for his arrest.

For her part, Swift was reportedly at her apartment when the incident occurred.

Taylor Alison Swift was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania and began writing songs at 14 years old. In 2014, her album “1989” helped her break out of her country singer image and she rose to national fame with her chart-topping songs, “Shake it Off” and “Blank Space.”

In 2018, she signed with Republic Records and began directing and producing music videos. She is widely considered one of the most influential artists of her time and is considered by Rolling Stone to be one of the top 100 artists of all time.
