A 21-year-old man was arrested after he called in a fake bomb threat at the Miami-Dade public defender’s office.
According to the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), Matthew Sanjurjo called the defender's office on Friday at around 10:30 a.m. local time reporting four bombs in the Carlos Martinez Building at 1320 NW 14th street.
Sanjurjo called the offices a second time saying “I am the one with the bomb” and then hung up, police reported.
The suspect called a third time before 11:00 a.m. “I want to play a game,” he said before hanging up again.
“During these calls, Santiago identified himself by providing his personal jail number: 210145763,” police said.
Hundreds of employees at the public defender’s office were immediately evacuated. City of Miami police and a bomb squad arrived at the scene to investigate the bomb threat and search the area.
