Doctors in England who are overseeing Queen Elizabeth “are concerned for Her Majesty’s health,” Buckingham Palace said Thursday,

The medical professionals suggested to the royal family the queen stays under close medical supervision.

“The Queen remains comfortable” at Balmoral Castle, reported the royal palace.

News about the queen, 96, sparked concern from family members such as Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Prince William who are now rushing to Scotland to be by her side.

Newly elected Prime Minister Liz Truss tweeted her support, saying that, “The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime. My thoughts – and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom – are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time."

News of the queen’s health broke after she delayed meetings with senior British government officials on Wednesday after a full Tuesday, in which the royal head of state oversaw the transfer of power of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson to Truss.

The queen’s doctors suggested after all the activity to rest, according to the palace.

“After a full day yesterday, Her Majesty has this afternoon accepted doctors' advice to rest,” the palace said in a statement on Wednesday. “This means that the Privy Council meeting that had been due to take place this evening will be rearranged.”

Queen Elizabeth II’s health has been spotty since she contracted COVID-19 earlier this year, and she has since endured problems walking and even suffered a sprained back in November. She attended three events celebrating her Platinum Jubilee, but missed a significant part of the celebration.

Since then, the queen has toned down her royal duties and begun passing them along to her son and future king, Prince Charles and her grandson, Prince William.
