Zelensky meets with Vance, Rubio ahead of Monday phone call with Trump, Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met in Rome with top U.S. officials and European leaders on Sunday ahead of his scheduled phone conversation on Monday with U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin about the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The world leaders were in Rome to attend Pope Leo XIV's inaugural mass.

The Associated Press reported that Zelenskyy met U.S. Vice President JD Vance and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the U.S. ambassador’s residence while in Rome. He also met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
