Portuguese soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo announced on Monday on his social media the death of one of his sons. The striker shared the news in a statement and asked for privacy after the terrible loss that he and his wife, Georgina Rodriguez, are going through.

"It is with the deepest sadness that we have to announce the passing of our son. It is the greatest pain a parent can feel. Only the birth of our daughter gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We want to thank the doctors and nurses for their care and support," the Portuguese star posted on Instagram.

"We are devastated by this loss and beg for privacy at this hard time. Baby, you are our angel. We will always love you," he added.

Ronaldo is the father of five children: twins Eva and Mateo, Alana Martina, Cristiano Ronaldo Junior, as well as his newborn twins.

In October, the soccer player announced on his official Instagram account that he would become a father of twins again. The news was celebrated by the player's family and friends.
