Actress Ellen Barkin told lawyers that a “world of violence” surrounds Johnny Depp, and that the actor is “controlling” and often intoxicated from drugs and alcohol, according to new court documents that were unsealed.

The celebrity couple dated in the 1990’s at the earlier stages of their Hollywood careers.

The new revelations are part of a document search the New York Post has been conducting since the actor’s defamation trial with his ex-wife, Amber Heard came to a close in Fairfax, Virginia.

Many trial court documents were unsealed as part of the new appeals Depp and Heard have filed against one another in hopes to get financial judgments overturned.

Barkin, 68, reportedly shared a number of unflattering moments about her relationship with Depp when she was deposed in 2019 in the hatchling stage of the defamation case. She said that she and the ‘Edward Scissorhands’ actor met about 1990 and became friends, and then the relationship evolved into something romantic and sexual.

The ‘Sea of Love’ actress said that while Depp could be incredibly charming, as “most abusers are,” she then stepped back and said, “I meant the big umbrella term of abusers.”

In her deposition, the actress testified that the friendship went from “purely platonic friendship to romantic,” but again corrected herself and asked to edit the record by saying: “Can you change that to ‘sexual’? Thank you.”

In the early stages of the relationship, Barkin said that she and Depp would rendezvous three or four times a week at one another’s Los Angeles residences. She described Depp as “loving” adding that he was kind to her children, and “seemed like someone who took care of people around him.”

She specifically recalled how Depp enjoyed spending time with her children and even made her son laugh by acting out real life parts to his 1993 film “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?”

Then the testimony took a turn.

“He gave me a Quaalude and asked me if I wanted to f–k,” ‘The Big Easy’ actress testified.

She said that Depp had a dark side and could act “verbally abusive,” and made demeaning comments by addressing his assistant as “Pig.”

She said when she was around him there was “just a lot of yelling” and described the atmosphere around Depp as “a world of violence.”

When asked who Depp yelled at, she said his assistant.

“People who would work on the film, maybe in what he would view as a lower capacity than he functions at. There is just a world of violence,” she said.

The two finally stopped seeing one another after Depp threw a wine bottle at her in a Nevada hotel room during the filming of in ‘Fear and Loathing’ in Las Vegas, but said the actor never verbally or physically abused her.

She added that Depp was “drunk all the, most, a lot of the time,” from red wine and that he often used narcotic drugs including, cocaine, hallucinogens and marijuana.

“He was always drinking — or smoking a joint,” she said, adding he could act controlling and jealous. “There is always an air of violence around him,” she told Heard’s lawyers.

The treasure trove of documents were unsealed as part of Depp and Heard’s appeals.

A Fairfax County, Virginia jury awarded Depp $10.35 million in June, deciding that he was defamed by a 2018 Washington Post op-ed by Heard, in which she made allegations of abuse and sexual violence.

That same jury awarded Heard, $2 million over her claims that Depp’s former attorney made false and damaging comments about her to the press. This presumably mitigated her judgment to a total of $8.35 million.
