At least three people killed after train crashes into car in California

At least three people were killed and two injured on Sunday afternoon in a horrific accident in the city of Brentwood, California, involving an Amtrak train and a vehicle.

The accident occurred around 1:00 p.m. when the train, carrying about 80 passengers, was traveling northbound on Orwood Road.

The impact was so great that three of the five people in the vehicle died at the scene. The injured were taken to hospitals, but there was no immediate information on their conditions, KRON-TV reported.

The fatalities were not immediately identified, nor were their ages or relationships specified.

The accident remains under investigation.
