The 17-year-old from Los Angeles who plowed his car into a mother pushing a baby stroller in 2021 was shot dead in this week.

The teenager, Kristopher Baca was shot shortly after 8:30 p.m. in the 38600 block of 11th Street East in Palmdale, California, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The police said that Baca was walking alone on the streets when he was fatally shot.

Baca was behind a hit-and-run in Venice on August 6, 2021, near the intersection of Speedway and Galleons streets. During the incident, the teenager hit a mother pushing her 8-month-old child on a stroller, sending both of them flying into the air.

The incident, which was captured on surveillance videos, shows the mother immediately getting up after being hit to check on her baby. The car keeps driving, leaving the two victims behind.

With onlookers chasing after the car, the teen crashes into a poll. Bystanders then begin to kick in the window of the car, the video continues to show.

According to the Los Angeles police, the teen was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident. A subsequent investigation found that he was driving a rental car. However, it was unclear how he got possession of the car.

The teen pleaded guilty to the hit-and-run and was sentenced to seven months in a juvenile probation camp.

“The universe delivered the justice we weren't given in court, but a much harsher punishment than he'd have been dealt in a court of law,” Rachel, the mother in the incident, said after she found out about Baca’s death.

“I think I feel shorted — by the system because they didn't hold him accountable and sad, not for him, but for his mom a little, because if George Gascon actually did his job, this kid would still be alive in jail,” Rachel told Fox News.
