Anne Heche dies at 53, one week after car accident

Actress Anne Heche died a week after she was seriously injured in a car accident. The news was confirmed by her family, after previously announcing that she would be taken off life support.

Heche was 53 years old and had two children.

In a statement, the family expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support and care shown for Heche following the devastating car accident on August 5.

"We want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for Anne's recovery and thank the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses who cared for Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital," the statement continued.

As for her legacy, "Anne had a big heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit," said someone speaking on behalf of the family. "More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life's work, especially moving the needle for the acceptance of the one you love. She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and missed for her light."
