Capt. Pete Mitchell has conquered “woke” Hollywood. Tom Cruise’s all-American patriotic role in “Top Gun: Maverick” is now officials the highest-grossing film of 2022, reports Slay News.

“Top Gun: Maverick” has flown sky-high and surpassed the $400 million mark at U.S. box offices, which marks it as the biggest major motion picture of the year for domestic box offices.

The U.S. Naval warfare flick has made $401.8 million in U.S. ticket sales, surpassing “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” which has generated $398 million.

Internationally, the pro-American film has made $362 million, taking its total to $783.8 million. Experts are projecting that since ticket sales are still high, the film will reach $900 million and may even reach $1 billion, reports ABC News.

The movie is considered one of this year’s hottest tickets and was ranked No. 4 on the top 10 list from USA Today.

One of the reasons the film has done so well is because some moviegoers are going twice and getting energized by watching the 1986 original Top Gun.

One of those Top Gun fans was SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk who on Wednesday tweeted, “Original Top Gun is a great movie. Just rewatched. Looking forward to seeing the sequel.”
