A woman from Buckingham County, Virginia, got lucky when she realized she had made a mistake in throwing away her winning lottery ticket.

Mary Elliot realized that the winning numbers of the Cash 5 with EZ Match game she had played were on her ticket, so she ran out to the dumpster to rescue the lottery ticket she had decided to throw away.

Elliot clearly remembered the numbers because she had chosen to play important birthday dates for her.

After finding the ticket, she was presented with another obstacle: coffee stains prevented her from reading the barcode when she tried to verify that she had actually won.

Fortunately, lottery officials were able to confirm that Elliot was the lucky winner of the $110,000.

"When I saw that I had won, I couldn't stop shaking!" the woman said, according to a statement from the Virginia Lottery.

The odds of matching all five Cash5 prize numbers with EZ Match are 1 in 749,398, according to the company.
