A video released by CBS showed an unusual scene that miraculously did not turn into a tragedy: a man with a 7-month-old baby in his arms dodged a gun attack in a store in Detroit.
In the security camera footage of the site, a man is seen in close-up as he is about to enter a gas station store.
Inside was a father holding his 7-month-old baby. But the situation took an unexpected turn.
When he opened door opened, the suspect entered took out an unholstered gun from his pants and loaded it with the intention of shooting at the other individual despite the fact that he was carrying the baby.
The man’s quick reaction was to take a few steps back and try to avoid the violent encounter by hitting the attacker's hand upward.
Miraculously, it seems that the safety catch on the gun had become stuck and the suspect could not fire. The perpetrator then fled.
The father then tried to hide in one of the aisles of the convenience store.
According to the Detroit Police Department, the defendant was apprehended last Monday on felony firearm charges.
