A 12-year-old girl from New Orleans was arrested after a video showing her pull out a gun on a classmate on a school bus went viral, reported The Daily Mail.

On a school bus route on Friday, two girls started fighting and pulling each other’s hair. The video shows the two girls moving around different bus seats while fighting.

At one point, the 12-year-old gets off of the bus and allegedly grabbed a pistol from a nearby car. She begins banging on the door of the bus, which the driver had closed when she got off.

When the driver refuses to open the door, the girl shows the gun and leaves the scene, while the rest of the kids on the bus are heard crying in panic, according to the video shared with WWL TV.

After the video went viral, the 12-year-old’s mother took to social media to defend her daughter. “She was being bullied, so that’s why she pulled out a firearm,” she said, adding that she was proud of her daughter.

“When a child is under frustration and being bullied, she is supposed to have help with her self-defense,” the mother, who remains unnamed, added, confirming that her daughter was carrying a loaded gun.

After criticism, the mother deleted the video in which she defends her daughter. However, copies of the clip have continued to circulate online.

The New Orleans Police Department responded to the bus incident and arrested the 12-year-old the same day.

The girl is facing charges of aggravated assault and her mother is charged with principle of aggravated assault and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
