Twitter is being sued for not paying the rent on its downtown San Francisco headquarters, according to court papers filed on Thursday in San Francisco State Court.

The social media company owes the landlord of the building $136,260 in unpaid rent, according to the lawsuit filed by Columbia Property Trust. Twitter signed a seven-year lease for the office space in 2017 and occupies the 30th floor of the Hartford Building in San Francisco’s Financial District.

Last month, the New York Times reported that Twitter had not paid its rent on any of its global offices in several weeks. Two sources told the Times that Musk has been trying to renegotiate the terms of the lease agreement.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk bought Twitter in October for $44 billion and has been downsizing to keep the company running as it continuously loses revenue. Since Musk took over the company, several drastic cost-cutting measures have been implemented, including laying off half of the company’s workforce and instructing employees to not pay vendors in anticipation of potential litigation.

Last week, Musk closed the company’s Seattle offices. Cleaning and security staff were laid off from the company's New York and San Francisco offices. Additional layoffs have been made to the company’s infrastructure and public policy divisions.

Twitter is also being sued by Private Jet Services Group, LLC, for failing to pay $200,000 for two private charter flights made the week Musk took over. The lawsuit was filed last month in New Hampshire District Court.
