President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he ordered airstrikes against the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa.
Trump emphasized that he would continue to use “overwhelming lethal force” until they stop attacking shipping along a key maritime corridor.
"Our brave Warfighters are right now carrying out aerial attacks on the terrorists," Trump said.
“No terrorist force will stop American commercial and naval vessels from freely sailing the Waterways of the World," he added.
According to the Associated Press, the Houthis "targeted over 100 merchant vessels with missiles and drones," which sank two vessels and killed four sailors, since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas in late 2023 until January when the ceasefire deal went into effect.
